After four days of distillations, a BUNCHA broken glass, and QUITE the journey, I have created one gallon of my first rendition of the Water of Abramelin.

This formula combines Waters of Calamus, Myrrh and Cinammon. Drawn from the pages of the Book of the Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage, this formula is a recreation of the Holy Anointing Oil handed down in the Book of Exodus.

In the original recipe, it is explicit that the oil is sacred and one is forbidden to reproduce it. That said, by creating a blend with the same spices and resins as a botanical water, and by omitting the olive oil specified in the recipe to act as a carrier, I have been able to closely replicate the original without profaning the sacred formula.

Being steam distilled, the sprayable handmade hydrosol formula is re-engineered slightly for daily use. I selected the specified ingredients and steam distilled each, then united the three for this blend.

The result is a sophisticated water-based spray that can be used on your body, in your space, on your altars, on your clothing, on your laundry, etc etc.

I carefully distilled each component in small batches with pure water and organic botanicals, opting for quality over yield in every extraction.

In the original, the formula is part of the 18 month purification ritual of Abramelin the Mage. Since then, it has become popular (in one variant) in the Ceremonial Magic circles of the Golden Dawn, as well as (in another variant) in Aleister Crowley's Thelema. In folk magic traditions, the oil is beloved and revered for all sorts of spiritual protection and binding, anointing, and spiritual communion.

Each tradition presents a slightly different recipe- I'll be creating a version inspired by each.

This first one is inspired by the original German manuscript of The Book of Abramelin, which specifies Calamus, Cinnamon and Myrrh.

The smell is absolutely otherworldly - rich and complex with notes of ambrosia and marzipan. The formula is both grounding and protective and still exciting and evocative - truly remarkable - worthy of the effort and the lineage.

I did not initially plan to offer this for sale, but since the formula is modified enough from the original, and I have to replace some expensive apparatus that I destroyed in the process, I am offering a select quantity.
